About the Artist
The need to create is innate in me. It begins with an inspiration from images or materials. The images form in my head, often in dreams. They begin as an idea and then evolve into a composition, often changing as I work . The medium itself inspires me to play; to re-invent a small part of the world or my imagination using its unique properties. I have a deep love of Nature and am drawn to the earthiness of oil paint, beeswax, elemental objects and metals. My work is abstract to convey the feeling of color or composition so that it may be observed by the senses rather than the mind.
I believe a very important aspect of being an artist is to grow and learn new techniques; another form of “playing” in the studio. I am constantly experimenting with different media and materials so that my work can evolve.
I am an alchemist. An alchemist experiments, transforms, and puts magic and beauty into the world. I change wax into gold, stones into gems and metal into colorful abstracts.
